Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, and brown bullhead all thrive here, and the lake is stocked every year with legal and trophy-sized trout. Agate Lake is a perfect location for fishing (Electric Motors Only) and swimming, or just taking in the view of Mt. McLoughlin, while enjoying a peaceful day lakeside.

The Azalea Lake/Fir Glade trail runs southwest from Fir Glad Trailhead into California and the Red Buttes Wilderness. When the trail reaches the southern wilderness boundary, it heads east and north to Azalea Lake, located within the wilderness boundary.
