HIKING PLAIKNI FALLS

While no trip to Crater Lake National Park would be complete without heading to the lake’s rim, Plaikni Falls is also not to be missed. The trail starts out flat meandering through old Hemlock and Fir trees. As you hike this wide and well-maintained trail you'll notice large cliffs in the distance and wildflowers along the way to the falls along Sand Creek. The trail is great in the early mornings before other hikers arrive and is a peaceful oasis within the national park.

Follow this trail to the waterfall where you'll begin to make the slow ascension to the falls. This waterfall can be very busy in the afternoons and summer months as well as the weekends. For best viewing come as early as possible. Be sure to observe the trail signs and stay on the trail. The trail is heavily trafficked and hiking outside of designated areas can do significant damage to the ecosystem.

Plianki Falls is a little oasis within Crater Lake National Park that is not to be missed and is great if you're looking for something to do away from the large crowds at the lake’s rim.
