HIGH SCHOOL FALL SPORTS SEASON KICKS OFF
Fall marks the beginning of the season for soccer, volleyball, football, and cross country. Here is a brief recap of last year’s local teams' playoff runs:
SOCCER
Both Ashland and Phoenix boys soccer teams battled to the first round of the 5A and 4A state playoffs respectively. The St. Mary’s boys soccer team fought their way through to the quarterfinal round of the 3A/2A/1A state playoff tournament.
The North Medford girls soccer team got through to the second round of the 6A state playoff tournament. Ashland and Cascade Christian girls soccer teams both made it to the first round of their respective playoff tournaments. The St. Mary’s girls soccer team capped off an impressive season with a trip to the quarterfinal round of the 3A/2A/1A state playoff tournament.
VOLLEYBALL
North and South Medford both battled through to the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Crater made it to the quarterfinal round of the 5A state playoffs. St. Mary’s and Cascade Christian both made it to the second round of the 3A playoffs.
FOOTBALL
Cascade Christian made it to the second round of the 3A state playoffs. After an impressive run by both teams, the 6A state championship game was hosted at the historic Spiegelberg Stadium where North Medford beat South Medford in a hard fought game for the state title.
