It’s never too early to start planning your perfect fall vacation to Southern Oregon. Everyone loves to fantasize about fall—the vibrant leaves, cozy sweaters, brisk weather and foods infused with the flavors of pumpkin and spices.

As summer turns to fall, Medford and Southern Oregon transition from outdoor adventures to indoor activities that nourish the heart, soul and palate. Autumn is when Medford transforms into the living, breathing embodiment of fall. The weather cools and the fiery colors of autumn—brilliant reds, oranges and yellows—take over the city and countryside.

Imagine your favorite winery during the summer. The grape vines stretch across rows of emerald green grass, and the nearby mountains still have a kiss of snow on their peaks from winter.

Now picture those same wineries in the fall. The grass is blanketed in colorful leaves that snap and crunch under your feet as you explore the grounds. There’s a cool breeze circling the vineyard, but the last warming rays of the sun keep the outdoor patio comfortable and inviting. Gather your closest friends and loved ones, order your favorite glass of red, white or roseˊ and welcome the new season with a toast.

Fall ushers in meals that warm you from the inside out, and Medford restaurants shine during the autumn months. Chefs display culinary creations that feature the flavors of fall using locally-sourced Southern Oregon ingredients. Or if you are near Central Point, a trip to the Artisan Corridor is a must. Award-winning cheeses from Rogue Creamery, handcrafted chocolates from Lillie Belle Farms and exemplary wines from Ledger David Cellars are a little slice of culinary heaven all within walking distance of each other.

After you indulge your palate, feed your creative side by watching a performance at the Craterian Theater, touring a local art gallery or walking through one of the Medford parks among all of the beautiful natural scenery.

Pleasant autumn weather is perfect for wholesome family activities. Southern Oregon farms offer a number of pumpkin patches, corn mazes and hayrides. You’ll love watching the kids play among the pumpkins, as row after row of these bright orange gourds keep you completely absorbed in the comforting embrace of fall. Additionally, you and your sweetheart could mozy through one of the local corn mazes as the sun dips behind the mountains in romantic hues of red, orange and yellow. Just make sure to find your way out before dark!

Autumn is about comfort, warmth and rustic luxury. Medford is autumn come to life. It is an artist’s oil painting which jumps off the canvas into a place you can visit and experience.

A fall and wine getaway is the ultimate retreat. Spend your days sipping wine in the sun-soaked vineyards, and indulge at a different culinary oasis every evening. Don’t just dream about the perfect fall vacation. Visit Medford and Southern Oregon, and experience the best fall and wine getaway in the Pacific Northwest.
